Hello, this is Totti. I know some of you may be getting tired of my blog, but please be kind and supportive as a caring adult.

This February has been warmer than usual, and except for the coldest wave of the season around the 10th, temperatures above 20°C have been the norm. Today it's 23°C, and tomorrow it's 26°C!!

A farmer friend of mine told me that mangoes don't bloom in warm winters. I guess it's not all good just because it's warm. The same goes for underwater plants. CoralThat's exactly right! What's more, the El Niño phenomenon, which was supposed to have ended last year, seems to be continuing this year. What's going to happen to the Earth?

Have you ever experienced an earthquake underwater?

Recently, manta rays have been really popular so I wasn't able to write about it on the day, but it was quite an impact on me so I'll write about it! I'll continue by sharing some photos from the ocean today.

What it feels like to have an earthquake while diving

From the top of my head to the tips of my toes, and from my internal organs to my bones. I literally feel it with my whole body. The sound is like a rumbling noise, similar to the sound of a boat engine starting up, but the volume of the sound is incomparably louder. It was a little scary. Lol

I think I learned this in my OW diver training: "Sound travels louder and faster underwater." Sound travels through vibrations. Therefore, vibrations travel more easily in dense water. It's almost the season when you can hear the cries of whales, and although they always sound close, they seem to be many kilometers away.

The last time I felt an earthquake, it was a magnitude 1, but it had the impact of making me feel like an unexploded bomb had exploded. And this time it was a magnitude 3! The impact was like a boat directly above me had exploded!

I wonder what would happen if this was a magnitude 5 earthquake...

Next time, I'll include a story about seeing lightning strike underwater! By the way, there will be no earthquake punchline!!!

Sorry! lol

Is this a good year for manta rays on Irabu Island and Shimoji Island?

That's right. After the manta ray festival the day before yesterday and the day before yesterday, we encountered one on the surface yesterday, and today we encountered one just below the surface!

Manta ray

There are years when it doesn't come out very often, and there are years like this. Of course, it's also possible that it's been coming out fine up until now, but suddenly it stops coming out from tomorrow.

That's all part of diving, and that's why I want to cherish the time I spend out there at 20:00pm.
