The PyeongChang Olympics were great! The gold medal in the women's mass start and the bronze medal in the women's curling ended with me watching the games on TV with a good feeling. Hello. This is Totti.

My personal pick for the Japanese MVP of the PyeongChang Olympics is Shoma Uno! He was in a good position to win gold in the free skate, but he fell right off the first jump! Yes, a smack! But what happened next was amazing. And I feel a sense of familiarity with him because he's not used to being on TV.

Phew. I could write about another 5000 characters about the Olympics, but I'm afraid no one will read to the end, so I'd like to continue writing under the title "Two Miraculous Days in Miyakojima, Just as Miracle as the Pyeongchang Miracle"!

Yesterday's Special | Underwater encounter with dolphins?

That's right. It seems so. It seems so?

In fact, it wasn't me who encountered them, but the Macky team! They were just absentmindedly looking at the red-spotted carp when suddenly!? They came and passed by and said,

Encountering dolphins while diving in Miyakojima

Apparently he didn't have a camera with him, so he didn't have any photos. So the photo is one he took earlier. The Gurukun suddenly started making a fuss, and then suddenly a dolphin appeared, followed by a school of Dogtooth Tuna, which swam away.

The photo shows a rough-toothed dolphin, but it's actually a spinner dolphin, which is probably the same dolphin we often saw from the boat last year. We haven't seen one from the boat yet, but there have been some vague sightings.

Encountering dolphins while diving is extremely rare and extremely lucky! I have not experienced it yet.

By the way, at that time I was exploring the shallows by myself, humming along with a happy mood. What a shame.

Maybe Miyakojima will be in the midst of a dolphin fever again this year!? Stay tuned!

Today's Special | Close Encounters of the Third Kind

This time it's Totti's team. Good. Let's get revenge for yesterday.

At the guest's enthusiastic request, we went to Antonio Gaudi for the second dive. It was pretty rough today, so it seemed like no other shops had yet dived in the Gaudi area.

Lucky me! I've got the point all to myself! I entered with such excitement and headed straight to the main course.

When I arrived and looked inside Gaudi from the outside, I saw a giant trevally wandering around. Double lucky break!

I was already enjoying the edge of Gaudi, thinking, "I'll tell the guests when they come over here!", and so I waited outside for a while.

Encounter a big name at Antonio Gaudi!

Eh, something huge is coming towards me (๑╹ω╹๑ )

There's some kind of huge light grey object swimming towards me!!

If you look closely, you'll see that he has two huge giant trevally following him!!!

Its appearance was truly bizarre. A presence I had never felt before, a form I had never seen before, and a tension I hadn't felt in a while. Sensing that something was not right, I readied my camera.

Shinonome Sakata Dame encountered in Miyakojima

Wow this is amazing!!!

Who are you!!!

Its gigantic body of about 2.5 meters in length swayed back and forth, and without paying any attention to my agitation, it swam calmly and steadily. Without breaking its rhythm at all, it simply passed slowly in front of my eyes. After it passed by, I was left in a daze, staring at the giant body until it was out of sight.

A strange creature that resembles a space battleship and an ancient fish.

I felt like I had seen it in a photo before, but I wasn't sure, so when I got home and looked it up, I found out it was a ray called a "striped ray."

What? It's a ray?! But it's called a shark?! Ah, so it's like how a remora isn't really a shark.

It looks similar to the pointed guitarfish that has been spotted in the Yonara Channel on Ishigaki Island, but this one does not have a pointed snout, so it is a different species. Its characteristic is its flat body, and in reality, although it is flat, it is tall, quite thick, and intimidating.

As an aside, the bay where Antonio Gaudi, one of the three most famous spots, is located is famous for having the most surprises. In the past, thrush sharks and sailfish have jumped, and last year a humpback whale jumped there, and there have also been sightings of whale sharks when I wasn't looking. And now, a stingray guitarfish has been added to the list. This is a big spot in both name and reality.

The secret to seizing good fortune

Even though I've been diving almost every day for over 10 years, I still encounter the unknown and experience thrilling excitement and emotion every year without fail.

They say that all the oceans in the world are connected, and it seems that's true.

But surprises aren't just for local guides. As a diver, you too have a chance to experience them. This isn't just a pretty story.

The rest is a matter of "probability, luck, and preparation." If you keep diving consistently, the opportunity will surely come. In fact, the surprises we have experienced have always been accompanied by other guests. Of course, luck is also necessary. Furthermore, if you have the skills and the time to spare, the chances of seizing good fortune increase dramatically.

The best way to grab good luck is to "enjoy diving to your heart's content"!

Don't worry, we'll help you.

See you tomorrow.
