Summer vacation season

This is my son, Yotei. And today's blog post is written by Totti Papa!

My father works at a diving shop, and since summer vacation is the busy season for the kids, he is prone to being resented by them. Our family is no exception. To try and alleviate some of the resentment, I took yesterday off and spent the day feeling like it was a summer vacation.

Speaking of summer vacation, it's the sea! And a southern island! And that means Miyakojima!!

I'll be writing about the summer vacation season, including today's diving experience.

Summer vacation is also typhoon season

Typhoon information

This year in particular, the number and location of typhoons has been horrific. However, the three years up until last year were marked by the El Niño phenomenon, and there have been so few typhoons that it feels like we've become complacent.

Even so, tuna are being born in the sea near Miyakojima one after another, and more are forecast to be born in the future. The weather is also looking dangerous around the Obon holidays, so if you are planning to visit the island, be sure to check the typhoon information.

The best time to see the golden-spotted jasmine this year has passed.

A horde of goldenrods

[Ichinose Hall]

A large flock of golden-spotted crickets began appearing on June 4th. The last photo was taken on July 28th. At the time, they were swarming in such large numbers that it gave the illusion of some gigantic creature moving about.

And here's a photo from today, August 9th.

It's completely empty!

You've been fooled. This is the "empty spot phenomenon" that makes guides cry. Just because it was there yesterday doesn't mean it's there today. This is the true horror of the golden-spotted cricket.

The "empty phenomenon" is not over yet.

Mini Toriike

[Mini Street Pond]

The damage is so great that I don't have the energy to look up when the photo was taken, but it is a very recent photo. I knew that the number of photos had visibly decreased, but this is the second time today that they are completely empty.

Here is the culprit behind the Mini Street Pond being completely empty.

Bluefin trevally

A blue-spotted trevally. Ah, I thought I might as well take a photo of its back, so this is the only photo I took today. I could have had my fill of this for a month. Damn it.

In this way, the best time to see the ``Terrain + Golden-leaf Clover'' has completely passed.

The biggest attraction of the summer season is "light"

No matter what you say, Miyakojima's biggest selling point is its topography. And summer is also the time of year when the sun is strongest and each of the topographical features shines brightly!

Light

The longest laser beam in Japan is undoubtedly at Ichinose Hall. What else can you see without seeing this? It's a sight to behold and a photo opp. It's amazing.

Freed from the curse of the goldenrod, I feel refreshed! For the rest of this summer, I'll focus on "going to see beautiful lights."

If you want to experience this light, stop here!!

Have a great summer vacation!

The Obon holiday is coming up soon, and while we're doing all this, August will be over and the smell of autumn will gradually set in. If you think about it like that, it won't be long.

This summer, whether you have plans to go diving, go on a picnic, or just don't have any time off, there will be many things to deal with, such as extreme heat and typhoons, but be sure to take care of your health and enjoy the summer to the fullest!

How will you spend the last summer of the Heisei era?

See you tomorrow.
