Miyakojima, a miracle on land
Hello, this is Totti.
Well, it's already been 6 days since June began, and we can sense the rainy season coming to an end soon. Or rather, it looks like summer will arrive in Miyakojima this year without us even feeling the rainy season!
Although we've had a dry rainy season, with sunny skies and good sea conditions, I actually have a lot of free time, so it's a great time to come! So, my BIGHOLIDAY is going to be busy from next week when the rainy season is expected to end, but I'm going to make this week a week of intensive work that I don't usually get to do.
Miraculous Landscape
Well, today's topic is the miracle that happened last week on June 6th. I usually introduce underwater miracles, but today I'd like to introduce a miracle on land on the southern island of Miyakojima! As you can see, on this day I felt the passion of the sunset through the window while I was writing this blog, so when I went outside, the first thing I noticed was that it was bright red, not orange!
What a terrible photo! I quickly went to take a photo with my camera and took the photo above. Then, when I looked back...
A rare purple sky and rainbow
I was amazed by the purple sky, but even more so, I was captivated by the incredibly clear rainbow, so I took a photo with my telephoto macro lens. Then I came to my senses and dashed off to the indoor humidity-controlled cabinet to get my wide-angle lens!!! It was a race against time! I'm sure you've all felt this before, but the speed at which the sun sets would even surprise Usain Bolt.
As you can see from the first photo, [after a few seconds the rainbow would be below the horizon, meaning it would lose its intensity], so I made a serious dash to grab my lens, and the more I panicked the worse I got at changing lenses, and after getting caught in numerous spider web traps, I finally arrived on the roof!! Then, a miracle caught my eye, and I was unable to move my body for about 0.5 seconds, but then I was able to take this photo!!
The setting sun × After a terrible rainstorm
It's rare to see a rainbow of this high quality! What's more, it was a faint but definitely visible double effect. The best part was that, although rainbows are often seen in blue or cloudy skies, this one was dyed in the sunset, creating a purple sky that is hard to come by in normal times! It's been almost ten years since I came to Miyakojima, and looking back on it, this sight is the best of all the years!
I've had the frustrating experience of missing such an opportunity at the wrong time, or even if I did, not having my camera on hand, but finally I had the perfect opportunity at the perfect place at the perfect moment. Needless to say, I set it as my PC desktop after the excitement had not yet died down, but I should also mention that by the time my wife got home, I had changed it back to a photo of her favorite cat at home!
We must always keep our eyes open for miracles to happen, whether on land or at sea!
See you tomorrow~
