The daytime temperature is still 31°C in the tropical island of Miyakojima. However, the sun is setting earlier, saury is being sold in supermarkets, and we are now hiding food vests under our 3mm suits - the seasons are definitely changing. It's autumn!

Recent Videos and Photos

Recently, a lot of people are bringing small video cameras like GoPros to the beach. Some people even carry two cameras, one attached to their BC and one attached to their wrist, with the video recording running non-stop! It's amazing how they've come up with something that's "easy, convenient, and beautiful" that's so in line with the times! By the way, I bought one too! Hahaha!

Until recently, the share of people who brought video cameras underwater was less than 10%. However, with the appearance of wearable cameras (small video cameras) at affordable prices and sizes, and most importantly, because they come with a housing, the share has probably increased to around 20-30%.

However, cameras remain popular, and I think they probably won't be overtaken by videos anytime soon. Photos and videos are both tools for capturing the underwater world, and are enjoyed after diving, but they are actually completely different things.

What is photography in diving?

A photograph captures a moment and expresses a sense of liveliness and artistry while providing limited information. Compared to video, it contains far less information and cannot rival video in terms of realism.

But don't you think there's a charm to still images that only still images have? How should I put it? They let your imagination run wild? They make you think?

Whether it's correct or not, for example, in the photo above,

① Her kind boyfriend supports and watches over her as she goes on her first fun dive, having just gotten her license and still feeling unsteady.
② The woman becomes her buddy when they first meet, and the man, with his ulterior motives, holds the gentleman's hand.

Well, in a world where the truth is known only to those involved,Everyone feels differently depending on who sees it!That ambiguity is what makes it romantic.
It's clear that photography still enjoys strong popularity.

Photography is easy!

What's easy is,

  • It only takes a moment to take a photo, and all you need to do is find the right settings for the scene.
  • Editing is easy! Use convenient photo editing apps
  • Easy to save!

Yes, we live in a photo-friendly age. There are a variety of tools and apps for smartphones. If you use the cloud, you can easily save your photos automatically without worrying about storage space. Make the most of these tools and enjoy a fun photo life!

What is video in diving?

Videos contain an overwhelming amount of information, allowing you to travel back in time and piece together memories to create a compilation. Videos are by far the easiest way to look back on memories and for promotional purposes!

Videos can be great if you edit them

However, the downside of videos is that they require a lot of effort to edit. This is much more than with photos. If you don't edit them, you'll definitely get bored of watching them. If you watch an unedited video for five minutes... On the other hand, a well-edited video will make you want to watch it again and again.

In other words, video is best suited to those who are diligent! Recently, there are free editing tools that are intuitive to use and allow even amateurs to create cool videos. I use this tool all the time and highly recommend it! It's also fully compatible with the GoPros that are available for free rental at BIGHOLIDAY! Please give it a try.GoPro App | Desktop v1.2.0 with GoPro Studio

It's hard to shoot video

Taking a photo takes just a moment, but video takes a long time. It's only useful if you're comfortable with diving. Shaky, spinning videos make you feel dizzy later. You might even lose interest in editing them (lol). But that doesn't mean that beginners can't do it. There are ways for beginners to use them.

Recommended methods for video beginners

Take a look at the video again. You'll see that it's made up of short videos of less than 5 seconds each, all strung together. That's right! Just put your energy into taking the video, take 10 seconds, and then record and splice those together to create a cool video!

General comment

Which is better: photos or videos?

It's best to choose one that suits your personality and purpose!
You can choose whichever you like best!

The secret to continuing is to try the one you want to try. Continuing for a long time means investing in equipment, so it's a good idea to try both! By the way, if you bring your own SD card with you, you can take both videos and still images with the BIGHOLIDAY free rental camera! Make sure you bring back lots of memories. Let's dive again tomorrow! Let's take pictures!
