Hello, this is Totti. As you may know, due to the approaching typhoon, the beach will be closed today, but from tomorrow onwards all menus will be closed.

Before a typhoon, the inner bay spots become lively

Something happens at Kurima Beach before a typhoon. All sorts of creatures come to take refuge in the fast currents and big swells of the open sea.

Today's special guest is...

We've seen turtles, spotted eagle rays, sharks, giant trevally, and even the endangered grouper (2m long). Sometimes you can see big fish on the beach! And today...

This school of fish suddenly appeared and started moving at full speed!! They were sardines!!

What happens when this school swims at full speed?

Do you know what happens when this amount of sardines swim past me in an instant, enveloping my body? They swim so fast that I hear a loud "bababababa!" sound right next to my ear. It's like I can feel small vibrations in my body. The speed at which they swim and make that sound is incredible.

The usual setting when there is nothing happening is a shutter speed of 1/200 seconds. With this setting, you can take pictures of fairly large animals, such as turtles, tuna, manta rays, and dolphins, but even with this setting, subject blur occurs!

Hunting is the reason the herd is running away at full speed

The next moment I took a picture of the school of fish, a hunter suddenly appeared in the frame. It was a Japanese amberjack! I usually set it to slow continuous shooting, soAbout 2 frames per second. The photo below was taken 0.5 seconds after the photo above!

The moment passed so quickly that I turned my body around while pressing the shutter and followed the school through the viewfinder. That's how it felt. I thought, "Wow this is amazing!!!" and waited for the attack, but was it already over? After this, the sardines just drifted leisurely as if they had lost their composure, and I never saw another bluefin trevally.

I don't know if the bluefin tuna had given up, had had enough, or had moved on to a different target, but the tense, murderous atmosphere had already disappeared.

So, the school was several times larger than the one in the photo, and the chances of being lucky enough to be on the side where the blue trevally would charge in were slim. Regretfully, we had to retreat!!

The typhoon will hit Miyakojima directly later.

So this looks like the last dive before the typhoon. It looks like Typhoon No. 15 is making a sharp turn and will hit Miyakojima directly. It's predicted to be closest on the 24th, but today is still the 18th! What a shame! If you're planning to come to the island, be sure to check the typhoon information! Because it's staying for a long time, there are many cases where people who have come but can't go home. Well, for now, let's go to sleep (*´з`)

Nice holiday! Big holiday!
See you tomorrow.
